ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Americans hosted their annual Buffalo Bills theme night this past Sunday. They took to the ice against the Utica Comets, sporting some Bills-themed jerseys, which were auctioned off after the game. The Amerks gave their packed barn a great hockey game and came out victorious 3-4.

The first period only saw one goal, courtesy of Filip Engaras on the Comets. Numerous penalties were given to both teams, but no one could score on the power play.

Brian Halogen scored for the Comets halfway through the second period, making it 2-0. Amerks fans were starting to become concerned near the end of the second, but Nikita Novikov put one in the back of the net, and the crowd went crazy. Just 20 seconds later, Erik Brannstrom scored again for the Amerks and tied it up. You would have thought this was a playoff goal the way Blue Cross Arena erupted.

The Amerks picked up right where they left off at the start of the third. Noah Ostlund scored only a minute into the period and gave the Amerks some more breathing room. They were able to hold the Comets off the rest of the period, and Anton Wahlberg scored on an empty net making it 2-4. However, the Comets would not go down without a fight and Austin Strand scored with only a second left in the game, making it 3-4.

Both goalies saw a lot of action, and gave the crowd an entertaining watch. Devon Levi got the win for the Amerks, stopping 33 of 36 shots faced. Nico Daws stopped 32 of 35 shots faced for the Comets.
