EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Oilers walked away with a dramatic 3-2 victory over the visiting Vancouver Canucks in Game 4 of the second round of the NHL Playoffs. On the heals of a Game 3 loss where Edmonton played good enough to win but fell victim to another poor showing by Stuart Skinner between the pipes, rookie head coach Kris Knoblauch made the bold decision to hand the reigns over to backup netminder Calvin Pickard.

After watching Vancouver pull off another multi-goal comeback in the final frame, Leon Draisaitl added to his otherworldly performance in this year’s playoffs, finding Evan Bouchard all alone at the top of the circles. The NHL’s leading point-getter from the blue line powered a wrist shot through Arturs Silovs and into the back of the net, giving Edmonton the lead with only 39 seconds remaining – sending the crowd of 18,347 in a frenzy.

The Pacific Division Finals are tied at two games apiece, with Game 5 taking place Thursday night in Vancouver.

Edmonton Oilers Pregame Thoughts

The battle of the depleted lineups was amusing. Winnipeg didn’t have Josh Morrissey or Connor Hellebuyck playing last night, just for Playoff resting reasons. But they do have injuries to Gabriel Vilardi and Nikolaj Ehlers. And now, Dylan Samberg is bound to miss time due to leaving the game after blocking a slap shot. Adam […]
