
TOLEDO, Ohio. – Wednesday night, the Toledo Walleye got some midweek luck on St. Cattrick’s Day as they defeated the Wichita Thunder in overtime at the Huntington Center by a final score of 2-1.
At 18:06 in the first period, Carson Bantle notched his 21st goal of the season on a tip-in power-play goal off a shot from Mitch Lewandowski. Brandon Kruse had the secondary assist. Wichita tied the game at 9:50 in the second period when Michal Stinil found Peter Bates at the blue paint, who shot it past Carter Gylander.
The Walleye outshot the Thunder 25-8 in the final 40 minutes. Trevor Gorsuch was unstoppable, making 41 total saves, including some key ones late in the third period to send the contest into overtime. Nolan Moyle beat a Thunder defender to a loose puck and got a shot past Gorsuch to end the game at 2:17 in OT.
This game marked Lewandowski‘s 100th ECHL game played. Stinil notched his 40th assist of the season, putting him on a five-game point streak. Gylander had a goalie assist on Moyle‘s overtime game-winning goal.
