BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Bridgeport Islanders welcomed the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to Bridgeport. The game got off to a rocky start for the Islanders with the Penguins scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the game. Bridgeport countered in the second period with three goals to take the lead. The Penguins tied the game towards the middle of the third period and forced an overtime period and eventually a shoot-out. The Penguin’s Emil Bemstrom and Ville Koivunen, and only the Islander’s Matt Maggio scoring resulted in a Penguins 4-3 OT victory.
The Islanders currently find themselves at the bottom of the Atlantic Division while the Penguins rival the first-place Hershey Bears with a similar points percentage (but Hershey has more games played). The Penguins play the Hartford Wolf Pack on Saturday, November 2nd, and the Islanders play the Springfield Thunderbirds on Friday, November 1st.
