PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence Bruins delivered a commanding performance on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-0.
Providence set the tone early, jumping to a 1-0 lead in the first period with a goal from Georgii Merkulov. The Bruins dominated the second period with three more goals from forwards Vinni Lettieri, Matthew Poitras, and Jeffrey Viel.
In the third period, Frederic Brunet scored a powerplay goal, giving the Bruins a 5-0 lead. Goaltender Brandon Bussi stopped all 21 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season for the P-Bruins.
