SAVANNAH, Ga. – Friday marked a special occasion for the Savannah Ghost Pirates as they hosted their Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Enmarket Arena, against the Worcester Railers. The game was highly anticipated, not only for the cause it supported but also for the return of four former Ghost Pirates players, who now play for Worcester; including fan-favorite goaltender Michael Bullion. What began as a warm homecoming for Bullion quickly turned into a challenging night for the netminder. Savannah applied relentless offensive pressure, forcing Worcester to make a goaltending change in the second period after Bullion surrendered five goals on 24 shots.
The Ghost Pirates came out strong in the first period, netting two quick goals, but the Railers responded to even the score by the first intermission. The second period saw Savannah ramp up its intensity, striking three times to take control of the game. As frustrations mounted, tensions boiled over for Worcester, leading to multiple scrums and escalating physical play. Their undisciplined response would later result in two players getting suspended. Despite the Railers’ aggressive play in the third, the Ghost Pirates maintained their composure, securing a 6-4 victory and earning much-needed points in the South Division standings.
