Pink in the Woo: Royals Take Another W on Pink Ice

For the second week in a row, the Royals were victorious on pink ice, this time at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

2/10/2023: Royals vs. Railers @ DCU Center in Worcester, MA

The Royals started their two-game series away in Worcester, where it was safe to say they started off the game fiercely. Mason Millman scored his seventh goal at just 0:26 seconds into the first, assisted by Royals captain Garrett McFadden and Evan Barratt. However, though quick to the net, the Nailers fought back, with Anthony Repaci scoring his tenth goal of the season at 4:47 seconds into the first, assisted by Trevor Cosgrove and Jimmy Lambert. The Royals jumped ahead just a few minutes later at 7:11 seconds, with Charlie Gerard scoring his twenty-first goal of the season, assisted by Max Newton and Mike Chen. It was not long before Anthony Repaci tied it right back up, scoring his second goal of the night, assisted by Jimmy Lambert and Jacob Hayhurst. Anthony Repaci wound up scoring his third of the night at 0:36 seconds into the second, assisted by Brent Beaudoin and Jimmy Lambert, earning him the hat-trick, including a Reading Royals hat from a dedicated Royals fan for the much-loved player. The Royals took the Railers into overtime but were met with a quick defeat at just 1:16 seconds in with a goal by Jimmy Lambert, assisted by Brent Beaudoin.

2/11/2023: Royals vs. Railers @ DCU Center in Worcester, MA

The Royals returned the next night to seek revenge on Worcester’s “Pink in the Rink” night. The early scoring continued for the second night in a row at 0:34 seconds into the first, with Devon Paliani scoring his eighth goal of the season, assisted by Brendan Hoffmann and Yvan Mongo. They kept the scoring going, ending the first with a 3-0 lead over the Railers. It was not until the third period that Anthony Repaci snuck one in on the powerplay at 3:27 seconds, assisted by Trevor Cosgrove and Jacob Hayhurst. Alec Butcher, however, scored once more just ten seconds later, assisted by Jordan Timmons and Jacob Gaucher, making it his tenth goal on the season. The night did not end there as Devon Paliani and Conor Breen received five minutes for fighting after Breen had an illegal check to the head of Royals forward, Yvan Mongo. The Royals remained victorious, ending the game 4-2 against the Railers, making it their second week in a row claiming victory on pink ice.

The Royals are back in action this Wednesday against the Norfolk Admirals at Norfolk Scope. They return home this Saturday, February 18th, for their annual Marvel Night against the Newfoundland Growlers, where they will be wearing Ant-Man and The Wasp jerseys.
