Selected 10th by Edmonton Oilers in 1st Round of 2018 Draft

In the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Bouchard was selected 10th overall by the Edmonton Oilers. He later moved up to the Bakersfield Condors (AHL affiliate), tallying 36 points in 54 games during the 2019-2020 season. After a 23-game stint with Södertälje SK in the HockeyAllsvenskan League, he returned to Edmonton and has since been a key player. Over the last 5 years, Bouchard has achieved 41 goals, 130 assists, and a remarkable plus-minus rating of +43 in 265 games. Notably, he is known for his impact on the Oilers’ power play, showcasing his formidable “Bouch bomb” slap shot, one of the hardest in the NHL.

During the 2024 NHL Playoffs, Bouchard contributed significantly to the Edmonton Oilers’ deep run to the Stanley Cup Final. Despite the team’s 2-1 loss in a heartbreaking Game 7, Bouchard made history by surpassing his Assistant Coach, Paul Coffey’s record for the most assists by a defenseman in NHL Playoff history. Throughout the past season, he was mainly on the top D-pairing alongside Mattias Ekholm and integrated as the only D-man into the top power-play unit with McDavid, RNH, Hyman, and Draisaitl.
