
Jesper Bratt was born on July 30, 1998, in Stockholm, Sweden. Bratt’s brother Filip is a defenseman who played three games in the ECHL with the Adirondack Thunder during the 2022-23 season. Jesper is a left-shot forward who played for Trangsunds IF in the J18 league in Sweden and scored nine goals with 15 assists in 29 games during the 2012-13 season.
The next season, Bratt joined the AIK J18 team in the J18 Elit league and registered ten goals and 24 assists while also playing in the J18 Allsvenskan league. In 2014-15, Bratt made the jump to the J20 team in the SuperElit league and recorded 17 goals and 23 assists in 39 games. In seven games with the Swedish U17 team in the World Hockey Championships, Bratt recorded three goals and five assists in 17 games while winning a Bronze Medal. Bratt won a Silver Medal with Sweden the next season and was voted best forward in the J18 division.

The New Jersey Devils Drafted Jesper Bratt in the Sixth Round of the 2016 NHL Draft
Jesper Bratt was selected with the 162nd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils and was described as a player who was “strong on the puck and possesses some quick, creative hands, allowing him to get fancy with the puck on the rush”. At 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, Bratt was a speedy skater with offensive upside. On May 12, 2017, Bratt signed a three-year, entry-level contract with New Jersey worth $2.25 million.

Jesper Bratt made his NHL debut on October 7, 2017, and scored his first NHL goal against the Colorado Avalanche. Two days later, Bratt scored two goals against the Buffalo Sabres. He finished his rookie season with 13 goals and 22 assists in 74 regular season games. Bratt has scored 146 goals with 277 assists in 528 regular season games and also has collected one goal and five assists in 13 playoff games. Bratt has made one NHL All-Star game and will be a restricted free agent at the end of the 2024-25 season.
