Lincoln Griffin was born on January 5th, 1997, in Walpole, Massachusetts. He stands at 5 ft 10 and weighs 185 lbs, playing left-wing as a left hander. He grew up in Massachusetts playing for Thayer Academy of the USHS-Prep league for 4 years, also spending time with the Cape Cod Whalers 18U AAA team of the MSHL U18, where he was Captain in the 2014-2015 season. In the USHS-Prep league, he ended with a total of 182 points in 101 games played and scored 44 points in 37 games in the MSHL U18 league. He later had a brief 2 game stint with the Dubuque Fighting Saints before heading to Northeastern University of the NCAA Division 1 level in 2015.
Griffin had a great college career, playing 4 years at Northeastern University and winning the Hockey East Championship in the 2015-2016 and 2018-2019 seasons. During his time in the NCAA, he played 154 games and scored 54 total points (25 goals, 29 assists). After college, he started his professional career with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs of the SPHL in 2019 and was later loaned to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Worcester Railers of the ECHL in the same season. In 2020, he joined the Knoxville Ice Bears in the SPHL, where he scored 16 points in 34 games. At the beginning of the 2021-2022 season, he played 6 games with Greenville before being acquired by the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Griffin has been with the Cyclones for 4 years and had a short 12-game stint in Slovakia to start the 2023-2024 season before returning mid-season last year. With a total of 120 career points in the ECHL, 114 of which were earned with the Cyclones, Griffin is one of the top 5 shorthanded goal scorers in Cyclones’ history. Griffin is excited to be back playing in front of the Cincinnati fans and appreciates the energy they bring to the games, especially with a couple of crowds surpassing 14,000 people last season.
