Mattias Janmark Stats & Salary Cap

Selected 79th Overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL Draft

In the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected 79th overall by the Detroit Red Wings. After a brief stint with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL, Janmark returned to the SHL to play for Frolunda HC, where he put up 36 points in 55 games in the 2014-2015 season. In 2015, he joined the Dallas Stars due to a trade with the Red Wings on March 1, 2015, and made an impressive NHL debut, scoring on his first shot during his first shift. After a successful rookie year, he would miss the entire season in 2016–17 due to a knee injury. In June 2019, the Stars re-signed Janmark to a one-year, $2.3 million contract extension.

He then left the Stars organization as a free agent after four seasons; Janmark signed a one-year, $2.25 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks in October 2020. Janmark was traded by the Blackhawks to the Vegas Golden Knights in a three-way trade. He and Chicago’s fifth-round draft pick in 2022 were traded to Vegas in exchange for Vegas’ second-round draft pick in 2021 as well as a third-round pick in 2022, while the San Jose Sharks received a fifth-round pick in 2022 from Vegas. During the following playoffs, in May 2021, he scored a hat trick for the Golden Knights in Game 7 of their first-round matchup against the Minnesota Wild. He was a free agent after leaving the Golden Knights following the 2021–22 season, Janmark signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers in July 2022.

Joining the Edmonton Oilers in 2022, Janmark continued to make significant contributions, particularly as a key penalty killer alongside Connor Brown. In the 2022-2023 season, Janmark saw most of his playing time with the Oilers, only playing 4 AHL games. He played a total of 66 NHL games, scoring 10 goals and 16 assists that season. Moving forward, his breakout performance this past season in the 2024 NHL Playoffs, where he scored 8 points, further solidified his position within the team. Janmark’s impact was recognized as he signed a three-year contract extension on July 1st, reinforcing his partnership with Brown and setting the stage for continued success in the seasons to come. He will be a key part of this Oilers group, who brought back and added many important players. Here is a list of them below:
