Morgan Geekie was born on July 20, 1998, in Strathclair, Manitoba, Canada. Geekie comes from a hockey family as his father, Craig, and brothers, Noah and Conor, all play. Craig played in the Western Hockey League for the Brandon Wheat Kings from 1990-93 as a defenseman. Noah played in the Manitoba Midget Hockey League for the Yellowhead Chiefs and scored 26 goals with 20 assists in 2016-17. The 23-year-old is retired from hockey and is pursuing a career in baseball. Conor has been a standout in the Western Hockey League for the Winnipeg Ice with 35 goals and 42 assists in the 2022-23 season and was the 11th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.

Morgan Geekie Stats & Salary Cap

Morgan Geekie played two seasons with the Yellowhead Chiefs as well and posted 52 goals and 64 assists in 88 games and was a first-team All-Star in 2014-15. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound center was the 90th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2013 Western Hockey League Draft by the Tri-City Americans. In 2016 games from 2013-2018, Geekie scored 78 goals and collected 124 assists. In 2016-17, Geekie was a second-team All-Star and scored 17 goals in the 2017-18 playoffs.

Morgan Geekie Drafted 67th Overall by the Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes selected Morgan Geekie with the 67th overall pick in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft. Geekie was the 28th center taken in a center-heavy draft and has played the most games of any third-rounder taken in 2017. The right-shot forward signed a three-year, $2.4 million entry-level contract with Carolina on May 9, 2018.

Morgan Geekie’s NHL Debut to Today

On March 8, 2020, Morgan Geekie burst onto the NHL scene with two goals and an assist in a 6-2 win over Pittsburgh in his NHL debut. In 10:22 of ice time, Geekie also had four blocked shots and was a plus-3. Geekie scored again in his second NHL game.

In 2020-2021, Morgan Geekie played 36 games for Carolina and scored three goals with six assists but was left exposed in the 2021 Expansion Draft. The Seattle Kraken selected Geekie, and he would play the next two seasons with Seattle. In 73 games in his first season with the Kraken, Geekie scored seven goals with 15 assists. The following year, the big pivot scored nine goals with 19 assists. In 13 playoff games, Geekie had two goals and two assists.

On July 1, 2023, the Boston Bruins signed Morgan Geekie to a two-year, $4 million deal to join the Bruins. The 25-year-old Geekie had a solid first season with Boston, scoring 17 goals with 22 assists in 76 games. Geekie has collected 17 goals and 12 assists through February 13 and is a restricted free agent at the end of the 2024-25 season.
