Goalies

Stats with 2023-24 team

Detroit: Ville Husso (9-5-2, 3.55 GAA) / Sebastian Cossa (22-9-9, 2.41) / Carter Gylander (14-14-4, 2.93 GAA)

Husso gets the start in net, last season in 19 games he went 9-5-2 with a 3.55 goals against average and an .892 save percentage. Cossa and Gylander will be his backups, with Husso’s injury history it’s likely each goalie could see a period. Cossa last season with Grand Rapids played in 40 games going 22-9-9 with a 2.41 goals against average and a .913 save percentage; he had two shutouts. Gylander played at Colgate University last season appearing in 32 games he went 14-14-4 with a 2.93 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.

Chicago: Petr Mrazek (18-31-4, 3.05 GAA) / Mitchell Weeks (15-10-6, 2.75 GAA)

Mrazek will get the start in net for Chicago, he finished last season in 56 games going 18-31-4 with a 3.05 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. Weeks will be backing up Mrazek, he split time last season between the Indy Fuel in the ECHL and the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. In his time with the Fuel he played in 33 games going 15-10-6 with a 2.75 goals against average, a .898 save percentage, and three shutouts; in the playoffs, he played in five games going 1-2-1 with a 2.55 goals against average and a .882 save percentage. In his time with the IceHogs, he played in five games going 3-2-0 with a 2.80 goals against average, a .892 save percentage, and a shutout.

Players To Watch

Detroit: Amadeus Lombardi (5-21-26)

Lombardi is one of my favorite Red Wings prospects with potential. Last season he played his first full season in the AHL playing in 70 regular season games recording 26 points on five goals and 21 assists, in the playoffs in eight games he had a point on a goal. In 2022-23 Red Wings fans saw his talent during his time with the Flint Firebirds as he played in 67 games and recorded 102 points on 45 goals and 57 assists, in the playoff in seven games he had seven points on five goals and two assists.

Chicago: Connor Bedard (22-39-61)

Whenever Bedard is on the ice he is must watch and can hurt you in so many different ways with his play. Last season he had 61 points in his first season on 22 goals and 39 assists. He had 21 power play points on four goals and 17 assists. In the IIHF World Championship in ten games he had eight points on five goals and three assists.
