Montreal, CA- The Boston Fleet battled through a matchup against the first-place team, Montreal Victoire, that ultimately ended in a poor third period performance and overtime loss.

First Period

The Victoire took an early lead with a goal from Kati Tabin just 36 seconds into the game. This was her second of the season and first goal in the game.

Seven minutes later Boston’s Amanda Pelkey got her second goal of the season and tied the game up.

Second Period

The Fleet took their first lead during this game with a goal from defender Sidney Morin.

Third Period

The Fleet were leading for most of the third period but did not get a single shot during the 20 minutes. Montreal’s Kati Tabin scored her second goal of the game to put Montreal ahead with seven minutes left in regulation to send this game into overtime.

Overtime

Laura Stacey was the overtime hero for Montreal as they defeated Boston in overtime. The Fleet were kept in this game for so long, all thanks to goaltender Aerin frankel, but ultimately it was not enough and their five-game win streak was snapped.

Final Notes

Boston remains in third place with 31 points and earned one point with the overtime loss. Montreal extends their lead for first place (7 points ahead of second-place Toronto, with two games in hand). Montreal snapped Boston’s five-game winning streak, however, Boston still holds a five-game point streak and ties their longest of the season.

Boston Head Coach Courtney Kessel: “I didn’t think it was one of our best games this year. I think we knew coming in that the crowd was going to be electric and sometimes the nerves get the best of you. For us to battle back after our first shift with a goal against, I think it’s a testament to our team’s resilience this year. We got a point and points are hard to get in this league right now, so we’ll take it.”

Next game for Boston: Wednesday, March 5 vs. New York at 7:00 p.m. EST
