Getting the Charge on the board early into the first period – Mannon McMahon found the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead at 13:52. Right after the face-off, Aneta Tejralova took a pass, sending the puck over to Alexa Vasko, who carried it out of Ottawa’s zone and into Toronto’s zone. McMahon skated up the ice on the right side, and Vasko fed McMahon, who fired the puck past Kristen Campbell. A goal that had been originally credited to Hannah Miller, which had actually been scored by Sarah Nurse, tied the game 1-1. Miller received a pass right off the face-off and shot from just below the left circle, and it deflected in off of Nurse’s stick.

Izzy Daniel struck her first PWHL goal late in the middle frame to give the Sceptres their first lead of the night with 4:38 on the clock. Julia Gosling fought for the puck behind the net, grabbed ahold of it, carried it out along the left wall, and sent a backhand pass to Sarah Nurse, who passed it to Daniel, who passed it to Lauren Bernard, and Daniel ended up getting it back, slapping it in past Emerance Maschmeyer.

Jincy Roese tied it back up to 2-2 with a power-play goal with 14:18 on the clock for her first. After Savannah Harmon got the puck off a pass, she sent it over to Tereza Vanisova, who passed it to Katerina Mrazova, and Mrazova ended up sending it right back to Vanisova… Roese took a pass from Vanisova as she drove up into Toronto’s zone, and sniped it past Kristen Campbell. Not too long after the second Ottawa goal, Vanisova tapped it in for the 3-2 final when Mrazova fired it, and Vanisova tapped in her shot past Campbell after the Sceptres sent the puck out of their zone, where the Charge quickly grabbed ahold of the puck to take it back in Toronto’s zone.

Daryl Watts on playing against her former team, the loss, settling in with the Sceptres, and Izzy Daniel scoring her first PWHL goal: “It was fun. The fans here are so great, so the atmosphere was really electric. It’s tough to lose, but it’s just the second game of the season. So, we definitely have a lot to learn from this one… It was just not a great game. We definitely have a lot to reflect upon, and, you know, I think we’re all looking forward to getting back to Toronto, watching the video, and just preparing. Our next game is on Saturday, so we have a lot to work out,” – “Really well. The girls have been fantastic, and the staff has been fantastic, and obviously, it’s home for me, so, you know, my family is there and my friends are there, and my community is there… They’ve welcomed me with open arms, and I’m really excited to keep building with the team – It’s so fun to watch someone score their first goal. You know, after the game, we weren’t happy with the performance, but one bright moment from this game is that Izzy got her first goal. We’re all so happy for her. She’s a great player and really fun to play with.”

Allie Munroe on pairings and Campbell keeping them in there: “I think like Daryl said before, it’s just the second game. So, I think we’re all just getting used to each other right now, but we have a lot of skill, and a lot of grip back there, so I think we’ll figure it out in no time,” – “Yeah, she always keeps us in there, and I wish we could’ve had a better outcome for her for sure.”
