Rapid City Rush Welcome T.J. Fergus to the Black Hills

The Rapid City Rush announced that defenseman T.J. Fergus will join the team for the 2023-24 season.

In the 2022-23 season, Fergus spent time with the Iowa Heartlanders, Savannah Ghost Pirates, Wheeling Nailers, and the Reading Royals. He played in a total of 55 games, where he had four goals and 16 assists for 20 points. He had eight penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -2. Fergus also played in the playoffs with the Reading Royals. He played in six games where he did not have any goals or assists. He had two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -2.

The 2023-24 season will be T.J. Fergus’ first season with the Rush and third season in the ECHL. Fergus has spent his time in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades, Iowa Heartlanders, Savannah Ghost Pirates, Wheeling Nailers, and the Reading Royals. He has played in 62 games, where he has four goals and 18 assists for 22 points. He has eight penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -1.

My Thoughts on This New Signing

It is no secret that one of the biggest struggles for the Rush last season was their defense and having healthy defensemen. With adding TJ Fergus, I think it should help the Rush’s defense, as he is a strong backward skater. He is also a fast skater and is very crisp with his passes. I think this is a really great signing for the Rush, and Fergus should be an overall great addition to the Rush.
