After a long season of off-ice drama for Milan Lucic, things don’t look to be improving for him any time soon. It’s being reported that Lucic will be headed to free agency this Summer, as the Boston Bruins won’t be looking to retain his services.

Lucic only suited up for the Bruins four times in the 2023-24 campaign before he was removed from the team due to injury and legal struggles. Lucic was arrested and arraigned following a domestic abuse incident with his wife; the charges were later dropped. However, the Bruins did not let Lucic return to the team and instead chose to let him remain away from the team, with pay, to focus on his family. To add to Lucic’s plate, his wife also filed for divorce in April 2024.
For Lucic, who was once a Boston Bruins legend, his legacy in Boston has now come to an end in burning flames. According to The Fourth Period, the Boston Bruins are heading in a new direction and letting Milan Lucic walk to Free Agency.
The Bruins likely had a sour taste in their mouth after signing Lucic to a $1m contract for him to be out of the lineup virtually all year. With them falling short of ultimate success, it was easy for them to walk away from the PR nightmare and off-ice chaos that Lucic had to offer.
