Report: NJ Devils Extend Dawson Mercer

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed Dawson Mercer! Mercer received a three year contract at $4 million per year. With training camp in its second day, this is a huge signing for the Devils.

The 22-year-old, clocking in at 6’0, 180 pounds, began his NHL career with the Devils. After being drafted by the New Jersey Devils, 18th overall in the 2020 draft, the center began his NHL career in the 2021-2022 season. In Mercer’s first season, he played all 82 games, scoring 17 goals and 25 assists for a total of 42 points. In the 2022-2023 season, Mercer scored a total of 27 goals and 29 assists for a total of 56 points amongst all 82 games. In the 2023-2024 season, Mercer again played all 82 games, scoring 20 goals and 13 assists for a total of 33 games. Mercer has amassed a total of 131 points amongst his 246 total career games. It is an incredible feat for Mercer to play all 82 games for the past three seasons.

With this signing, fans are hopeful for a Mercer sighting at training camp in the next coming days.
