The Royals announced they will be inducting Olivier Labelle to their Wall of Honor this April.
The 37-year-old, Olivier Labelle, from St-Eustache, QC, CAN, will be inducted to the Royal’s Wall of Honor on April 14th. Labelle is no stranger to the Reading Royals as he played a total of 298 games with the team across his career, starting in the 2009-10 season. During his first season with Reading, he appeared in 55 games scoring 23 goals and receiving 18 assists. Labelle appeared in five seasons with the Royals, with his last appearance being in the 2019-20 season, where he played in four games. In his time with the Royals, he scored a total of 128 goals, quickly becoming a fan favorite in Reading. He made a total of 41 playoff appearances with Reading, the team reaching playoffs in all five seasons he played in, except the 2019-20 season, which was cut short due to COVID-19 safety protocols.
Outside of the Reading Royals, Labelle played for four AHL teams in his career, including the Syracuse Crunch, where he made his debut, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Manitoba Moose, and the Providence Bruins. Labelle also experienced ECHL time outside of the Royals, playing for the Utah Grizzlies, the Victoria Salmon Kings, and the Indy Fuel.
Though Olivier Labelle has since moved away from hockey in Reading, Pennsylvania, the team is honored to have him back one final time to honor all that he has contributed over his five seasons. His name will be among other Royals legends such as Chris Bala and Yannick Tifu. Labelle will be inducted onto the Wall of Honor for Reading’s Wall of Honor night on Friday, April 14th, when the Royals take on the Newfoundland Growlers for the second to last time this season.
