Sabres Lose 3-2, Despite Late Surge: 3 Thoughts

The Sabres have decided to finally get consistent. They are now consistently losing. In their first outing without Tage Thompson, the Sabres played sloppy and lost 3-2. Here are three thoughts.

Comrie Disasterclass

Eric Comrie made his triumphant return tonight. Said return was three goals on 18 shots. It is getting increasingly hard to justify this three goalie system the Sabres are running. Comrie just does not belong on this roster. He is a mediocre goalie, taking reps away from the future of this franchise.

Same Old Sabres

The Sabres are back to their losing in November ways. I’m getting sick of having false hope in the offseason just to be crushed by this month. I understand that patience is key with young teams. But Buffalo has been deprived of good hockey for so long that it is getting ridiculous.

Third Period Surge

I did appreciate the third period push from the Sabres. JJ Peterka continues to prove that he is a great top 6 forward, and the whole team looked more energized. This just needs to be the standard. Surges don’t get you to the playoffs. They do exactly what they did tonight. Close, but not close enough.

The Sabres play again on Sunday when they’ll take on Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks.

There is no doubt that when it comes to the Colorado Avalanche, Nathan MacKinnon is the engine that drives them year in and year out.
