The Winnipeg Jets might not be playing, but their players have found a way to continue playing.
Around 1:00 pm CST, the Winnipeg Jets announced that Dylan Samberg would be named to Team USA for the 2023 World Championship tournament.
Samberg found his break this year, staying full-time with the Winnipeg Jets this season. Across 63 games played, Samberg would notch two goals and six assists for eight points while also posting 25 PIMS and a plus/minus of plus ten. Samberg would also play in all five of the playoff games against the Vegas Golden Knights. This gave the 24-year-old Minnesota-born player a nice resume when being considered for Team USA.
This isn’t the first time that Samberg will wear the red, white, and blue for Team USA. Samberg would be a part of the U20 USA team that won bronze in 2018 at the World Junior Championship tournament. The following year, Samberg would win silver with the U20 USA team in 2019 at the World Juniors.
Samberg will look to continue his development and become a top-four defenseman for the Winnipeg Jets next season.
