Samsonov Looks to Regain Form: Leafs Game Preview 24

Well, Toronto may not have landed Shohei Ohtani, but there are still Toronto sports tonight as the Leafs face off against the Nashville Predators. This comes after the Leafs finally won a game in regulation and will look to add another. Tonight is the beginning of the Leafs annual father’s trip, as well as a home matchup against former Leafs Schenn and O’Reilly.

Leafs Projected Lineup

Three Things to Look Out For

Samsonov

Joseph Woll had seemingly won the starting job with the Leafs until he left the last game with an injury. Now the net turns to Samsonov as he looks to regain last year’s form and build some consistent starts. Now is a chance for Samsonov to win the net back, and he needs to be sure to take full advantage of the opportunity. Samsonov’s’ run to regain form begins tonight.

Lajoie

With Lagesson out sick last game, Lajoie was called into the lineup and looked okay in his Leafs debut. He made some mistakes with the puck and ultimately was over-complicating things. Now he’s’ ready for his second game and has had more time to prepare for it, so hopefully, we should see a better game from him. Lajoie needs to simplify his game and make smart offensive contributions like he has been doing in the AHL with the Marlies.

Domi

A lot of eyes will be on Max Domi this week as the Leafs have their fathers on the trip with them, mainly due to the fact that his father is none other than former Leaf Tie Domi. Tie was a fan favourite, and Max has been loved by many fans as well. While all this is nice, Max still has a game to play, and his offensive skills have been heating up as he’s’ built chemistry with Nick Robertson. Keep an eye on Domi tonight as he looks to add more secondary scoring.

Today’s game starts at 7 p.m. EST on Sportsnet!
