Shea Theodore Suffers Injury

The Four Nations Face-Off kicked off last night with Team Canada defeating Team Sweden 4-3 in overtime. Despite the win Team Canada suffered a loss on the blue line as defenseman Shea Theodore suffered a wrist injury. Theodore suffered the injury when his arm got crunched against the glass on a hit by Team Sweden’s Adrian Kempe. Theodore went down the tunnel and got X-rays. Team Canada Head Coach Jon Cooper said Theodore would be out for the remainder of the Four Nations Face-Off. Cooper said following the game “That’s a tough one to swallow.”

It is unclear the severity of the injury and if he will miss any time for the Vegas Golden Knights when the regular season resumes. Team Canada will now have six defensemen. Travis Sanheim will slide into the lineup. Team Canada can’t add another defenseman unless they suffer another injury. They can call the backup and let them know they may be added later on. Theodore had 6:59 TOI in nine shift last night.
