In his first action of the season with the Macon Mayhem, Skinner went 2-0-0 with a 0.44 goals-against average, a 0.986 save percentage, and one shutout. Signing with the Macon Mayhem just a few days ago (11/21), it seems that the netminder has found the perfect fit.
In his debut against Birmingham, Skinner stopped all nine shots in a relief appearance. This set the stage for his next game against first-place Fayetteville, where he led the Mayhem to a 3-1 win with 28 saves, including several critical stops in the third period to preserve the lead.
His most impressive performance came on Sunday against Knoxville, where he recorded his first professional shutout with 31 saves. Key moments included several important saves during penalty kills in the first period, maintaining the momentum for Macon after they took the lead in the second period, and making crucial saves in the third period to prevent Knoxville from mounting a comeback. Skinner’s stellar goaltending was a key factor in Macon’s 4-0 victory, providing the team with the confidence needed to secure these wins.
At the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, he posted a career record of 30-25-2 with a 2.12 goals-against average and a 0.918 save percentage, along with nine shutouts. Skinner later signed with the Carolina Thunderbirds of the FPHL on a four-game PTO contract. His performance with the Thunderbirds, where he recorded a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals-against average, and a 0.970 save percentage, and now his recent success with the Macon Mayhem in the SPHL have solidified his reputation as a reliable and skilled goaltender.
Overall, Skinner’s ability to make key saves at critical moments was instrumental in Macon’s recent successes, earning him well-deserved recognition as the Warrior SPHL Player of the Week.
