SPHL: Macon Mayhem Add Defenseman to 2024-25 Roster

Defenseman Nick Magill-Diaz is set to join the Macon Mayhem for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Born on January 17, 1997, in Clawson, Michigan, Magill-Diaz is now beginning his third season in the SPHL. Prior to turning pro, however, Magill-Diaz had a notable career at Curry College in NCAA Division-III. Having participated in all 26 games during the 2019-2020 season, he earned himself a spot on the First Team All-Conference for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). Among defensemen, he led the conference with 10 goals and six power-play goals, while securing second place in points with a total of 19. Magill-Diaz also ranked first among Curry defensemen in goals (10), assists (9), points, and plus/minus (+15). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he only appeared in four games of the shortened season in 2020-21, but did contribute two assists during that time. Throughout all four of his collegiate hockey seasons, he accumulated a combined total of 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists) across 69 games played.

After college, he joined the SPHL, playing for teams like the Quad City Storm, Birmingham Bulls, and Pensacola Ice Flyers. During his time with the Birmingham Bulls he hit the ice with the team for three games, during which he scored one goal and recorded two assists, resulting in an overall total of three points. Although his time with the Ice Flyers was brief, Magill-Diaz contributed an assist in his lone game with the team.

Most recently, Magill-Diaz played for the Motor City Rockers in the FPHL. He had returned to the Rockers after spending that time with the Pensacola Ice Flyers and Birmingham Bulls. In his 15 regular season games with Motor City, he added two goals and provided four assists, resulting in a total of six points. He was also part of the team’s efforts as they prepared for the post-season, taking in five post season games, and contributing one assist.

The Mayhem kick off their season at the Macon Coliseum on October 19th, facing off against the Birmingham Bulls at home.
