The Macon Mayhem have officially confirmed the signing of defenseman Hugh Anderson for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, Anderson entered the professional hockey scene last season with the Columbus River Dragons in the FPHL. He was selected as the team’s first Developmental Player for the 2023-24 season. Anderson showcased a strong defensive presence, earning a +8 rating in addition to contributing three points with one goal and two assists across 14 games. Anderson would later have an opportunity to demonstrate his ability to perform under pressure during the playoffs with the River Dragons, tallying a goal and two assists in just five postseason appearances.
Before starting his professional career, Anderson competed in collegiate hockey for four years at NCAA D-III Lawrence University. In his last season with Lawrence he took in one goal and two assists, earning three points after 22 games. Over the entirety of his time with Lawrence, he earned 11 points by scoring 3 goals and providing 8 assists in a total of 70 games.
He also was pat of the NAH, having competed for both the Philadelphia Rebels and Topeka Pilots for a total of two seasons. During his time with the Rebels, he recorded 2 assists in 10 games, and while playing 35 games with the Pilots, he scored a goal and provided eight assists.
Anderson is set to join teammates Brandon Picard, Noah Robinson, Josh Boyko, Michael McChesney, Jarret Kup, Tao Ishizuka and Brad Jenion as the Mayhem kick off their season at the Macon Coliseum on October 19th, facing off against the Birmingham Bulls at home.
