SPHL: Macon Mayhem Sign Netminder Josh Boyko

The Macon Mayhem announced that they have agreed to terms with Goaltender Josh Boyko for the 2024-25 season. Boyko, hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, has played in the SPHL for parts of two seasons. Besides his time in the SPHL, Boyko has also played in the ECHL, featuring in three games in Worcester and 13 games in Atlanta last season; he has also spent time with the Reading Royals, Maine Mariners, and Idaho Steelheads over the course of his career putting up a 9-11-2 record with a 3.32 GAA, .896SV%, and one shutout in 25 career ECHL games. During his time with the Macon Mayhem hockey (SPHL), Boyko appeared in 19 games, posting a goals-against average (GAA) of 3.47 and a save percentage of .909. He achieved three wins, suffered 11 losses, and had three overtime losses.

Transitioning to the Atlanta Gladiators, Boyko participated in 13 games, registering a goals-against average (GAA) of 3.39 and a save percentage of .895. This stint resulted in three wins, seven losses, and one tie for Boyko.

Prior to his professional career, Boyko spent five seasons at NCAA D-III Aurora University, where he achieved a 47-45-9 record, 0.908 save percentage, 2.85 goals-against average, and ten shutouts in 106 games. He was named to the All-Freshman team in 2018 and to the All-Conference team in 2020 and 2022.

Boyko joins Michael McChesney and Jarret Kup as the Macon Mayhem launch their season at Macon Coliseum on October 19, facing off against the Birmingham Bulls at home.
