SPHL: Macon Mayhem Roster Transactions | 11/21/2024

The Macon Mayhem announced on Thursday that goaltender Dysen Skinner has signed with the team. Skinner, 25, hails from Billings, Montana. He was waived by the Huntsville Havoc this week after being called up from the FPHL’s Carolina Thunderbirds.

Prior to his professional career, Skinner played junior hockey in the NAHL with the Minnesota Magicians during the 2019-2020 season. He appeared in 21 games, achieving a record of 12-7-2, with a .914 save percentage and a 2.86 goals-against average.

During his collegiate career at Wisconsin-River Falls, Skinner was a four-year letterwinner, playing 61 NCAA Division-III games and never finishing a season with a save percentage below .900. In the 2020-21 season, he was named All-WIAC Honorable Mention and was on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. He started in three of five games played, compiling a .925 save percentage and a 2.20 goals-against average with a 3-1 record and one shutout.

In the 2021-22 season, Skinner received All-WIAC Honorable Mention and was on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. He started in 20 games, achieving a .907 save percentage and a 2.36 goals-against average. Notably, he logged a career-high 40 saves in a win over No. 13-ranked UW-Stevens Point. He ended the season with a 10-10 record and one shutout.

The 2022-23 season saw Skinner earn All-WIAC Honorable Mention, be named an AHCA All-American Scholar, and receive CSC Academic All-District honors. He made 21 starts, tallied four shutouts, and posted a .918 save percentage with a 2.09 goals-against average. He was also named WIAC Athlete of the Week and Male Falcon of the Week and represented Team USA at the FISU World University Games.

In the 2023-24 season, Skinner was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, led the WIAC with a 1.77 goals-against average, and was a two-time WIAC Player of the Week and one-time Falcon of the Week. He recorded an 8-4-2 record, a .930 save percentage, a 1.77 goals-against average, and three shutouts. His season highs included 33 saves on October 28, 2023, against Saint John’s University and playing 65:00 minutes on February 3, 2024, against Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Skinner earned his first WIAC Player of the Week honor for the week of October 23-29, 2023, after leading the Falcons to a 2-0 victory over Saint John’s University with 33 saves. His second WIAC Player of the Week accolade came for the week of February 5-11, 2024, after allowing just one goal in a two-game series against Northland College, totaling 34 saves with a .971 save percentage, including a shutout.

This season marks Skinner’s first season of professional hockey. He boasts a perfect 2-0-0 record in FPHL play with Carolina, along with a league-best .970 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average. Skinner’s addition to the Macon Mayhem is a strategic move to bolster their goaltending depth.

In a corresponding move, the Mayhem have waived goaltender Reid Cooper. Additionally, forward Trent Grimshaw has been placed on Injured Reserve, and forward Alex Cohen has been activated.
