SPHL Player of the Month: Colby Muise | November 2024

Colby Muise, goaltender for the Peoria Rivermen, has been a standout performer, earning him the prestigious SPHL Player of the Month award for November 2024.

In November, Colby Muise’s performance was particularly impressive, showcasing his consistency and skill as a goaltender. The month began with a game on November 1st against Quad City, where Muise allowed three goals and making 29 saves, resulting in a save percentage of 0.906. The following day, November 2nd, he faced QC again and despite allowing four goals, he managed 14 saves, though his save percentage dipped to 0.778.

As the month progressed, Muise’s form improved significantly. On November 15th, in a match against the Evansville Thunderbolts, Muise allowed only two goals while making 23 saves, achieving a save percentage of 0.920. The very next day, November 16th, he continued his strong performance against the Thunderbolts, allowing just one goal and making 29 saves, which resulted in an impressive save percentage of 0.967.

Muise’s standout performances continued into late November. On November 22nd, he achieved his first pro shutout with 31 saves and a perfect save percentage of 1.000.

The following day, November 23rd, he maintained his high level of play against Pensacola, allowing only one goal and making 26 saves, resulting in a save percentage of 0.963.

Rounding out the month, Muise delivered two more stellar performances. On November 29th, he tended the net against the Quad City Storm, securing yet another shutout with 24 saves and a perfect save percentage of 1.000. Finally, on November 30th, he tended net against the Storm, allowing just a single goal and making 18 saves, finishing the month with a save percentage of 0.947. He was also chosen for the team’s Standard Heating & Cooling Riverman of the Week after his performance in those games.

Muise is currently in his first professional season in North America, having played in France last year. During his time in France, he played for the Anglet Hormadi Élite in the Ligue Magnus, where he recorded 15 goals and 20 assists in 44 games. Prior to turning pro, Muise played four years for Marian University, leading the Sabres to the 2021 NCHA Harris Cup Championship as a sophomore and earning the tournament’s Most Valuable Player honors.

Muise’s consistent performance has been crucial for the Rivermen, highlighted by his ability to maintain a low GAA and high SV%. His standout performances in November, including multiple shutouts and high save percentages, have solidified his reputation as a top goaltender in the league.
