St. Louis Blues Sign Three Forwards & A Goalie

The St. Louis Blues today signed three forwards and a goalie. The Blues signed their first-round draft pick, Justin Carbonneau, along with forward Nikita Susuyev and Sam Strange. They also signed goalie Matthew Koprowski. Their names may also be affiliated with the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, during the regular season.

Justin Carbonneau

The Blues drafted Carbonneau 19th overall in this past NHL Entry Draft. He spent last season with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL. In 62 games, he recorded 89 points on 46 goals and 43 assists. He was a plus-three with 61 penalty minutes. He finished second in the league in points and third in goals. In five playoff games, he scored three goals, finished even in plus/minus, and had 12 penalty minutes.

Nikita Susuyev

The Blues drafted Susuyev 202nd overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Today, he signed his ELC. He spent time in the VHL, MHL, and KHL last season. Combined, he played in 42 games, recording 18 points on eight goals and ten assists. He was a minus-six with 45 penalty minutes. In three playoff games, he was held pointless.

Sam Strange

The 24-year-old Strange spent last season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he was an assistant captain. In 36 games, he recorded 34 points on 16 goals and 18 assists. He was a +14 with a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal, three game-winning goals, and 20 penalty minutes.

Matthew Koprowski

Koprowski spent last season in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack. In 20 games, he went 8-9-1 with a 4.29 goals-against average and a .866 save percentage. The season prior, he played in two games with the Sound Attack, going 0-1-0 with a 5.65 goals-against average and an .875 save percentage. He also played for the Komoka Kings of the GOJHL. In 34 games, he went 6-22-0 with a 3.71 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
