Sweden Trip Lines: Leafs Game Preview 16

It’s an earlier start time today as the Leafs face off against the Red Wings in Sweden! For those in the Eastern Standard Time Zone, the game will be starting at 2 PM. Wow, this is an enjoyable trip for the players to Toews, it is a regular season game, so it will be important that the Leafs show their best effort as they look to continue building momentum. Keep an eye out for a lot more Sweden content from the Leafs social media accounts.

Leafs Projected Lineup

Three Things to Look Out For

Nylander

William Nylander has been off to a career-year start so far for the Leafs and finds himself on a 15-game point streak. It’s good timing for him as he is in his contract year, and I’m sure that this Sweden trip will help as he continues to grow in popularity. Look for Nylander to try and extend his point streak to 16 games and help the Leafs take the win in Sweden. Nylander is typically known for his offensive play, and while that has been outstanding, his defensive play has also taken a leap this year, and he will look to have that continue tonight.

Samsonov

After a rough start to the season, Ilya Samsonov seems to be finding his game. He has made the saves he needs to, and his positioning seems to be much better. Samsonov is at his best when he’s not overthinking things and can quickly make the right decision. This Leafs team will be at their best when both Samsonov and Woll are pushing each other, and with Samsonov starting to find his game, that can only be a good thing for the Leafs. Samsonov earned the start tonight and will look to earn more future starts with a solid game tonight.

Lagesson

William Lagesson has been a nice success story for this Leafs team. Another Swede, who came in after injuries to the Leafs blueline, has played some solid games for the Leafs thus far. Lagesson has been responsible defensively and isn’t afraid to use his body. Keep an eye on Lagesson as he plays in front of his home country today in Sweden. Lagesson has earned a spot in this game and will look to continue playing well. and hopes to not just earn a spot in the next game in Sweden but also looks to stay on the roster on the way back from Sweden.

Today’s game starts at 2 p.m. EST on TSN!

Edmonton Oilers Thoughts: Stanley Cup Final – Game 2

There haven’t been enough mentions about Corey Perry’s subtle backhand pass on the Overtime winner. The 40-year-old was probably our team’s worst forward in last year’s Playoffs, but the complete 180 he’s made in this year’s Playoffs is what you’d read if you looked up Fountain Of Youth on the internet. Also, with the third-period […]
