The National Hockey League has suspended forward from the Los Angeles Kings, Tanner Jeannot, for three games after committing an illegal check to the head on Vancouver Canucks’ Brock Boeser. The suspension comes a day after Jeannot shoulder-checked Boeser in the jaw/head area from an open-ice hit during the first period between the Kings and Canucks at Los Angeles on Nov. 7.
Fortunately for Boeser, the Canuck was able to leave the ice on his own without any on and off-ice assistance. He currently leads his team with six goals and 11 points. After the game, Vancouver took it with a score of 4-2 at Crypto.com Arena
Jeannot, 27, is in his fourth season in the NHL for his third team and first season as a King. He currently has a goal and two points from 15 games this season. The physicality demonstrated by him from last night’s game was not uncharacteristic of his play style; he is a big-body, up-to-your-face kind of player.
However, the contact to the head on Boeser has no place in the league and sport as a whole, and the Department of Player Safety made the right decision to suspend him for three games.
