The Rise of Seth Jarvis

The Carolina Hurricanes have a new star on their hands – Seth Jarvis. The twenty-two-year-old right winger for the Canes is currently on a six-goal streak, scoring a goal every game for the past six games. While the Canes lost their winning streak in a 7-6 shootout loss to the Washington Capitals on Friday, Jarvis’s rise is not going unnoticed.

On the ice, Jarvis is on the Guentzel-Aho first line and has been for the past several games. On March 21, he became the second player in Hurricanes/Whalers franchise history to score a game-winning goal in three consecutive games. This season, Jarvis has had twelve game-winning goals, and the Canes record when Jarvis scores is 43-4-3. Jarvis is currently on pace to score over sixty points this season. And it’s only his third season in the NHL.

Off the ice, Jarvis is a Canes media darling. For NHL promotional videos, Jarvis is the person always there for the Hurricanes. Hockey fans have pushed for Jarvis to be a part of the Amazon NHL documentary series since the owners’ meeting notes were released to the public. Jarvis told Canes beat reporter Ryan Henkel last week that his streak is from “keeping a spaced-out head.”

If Canes fans have their way, Jarvis will be a part of the team’s core for a long time. He will be an RFA this summer as his rookie contract expires, but his impact on the team is undeniable. It seems likely that Jarvis will get paid by the organization to stick around for a while. The Carolina Hurricanes will be all the better for it.

Opinion: Stars’ Mikko Rantanen Returns to Form At the Right Time

It was clear that Mikko Rantanen was not exactly about being traded by the Colorado Avalanche, the only NHL club he had ever known. It was in Colorado where he spent close to 11 seasons, won a Stanley Cup in 2022, had 681 points (287 goals and 394 assists), and made lifelong friends. That is […]

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2

It takes four wins to advance, but the Edmonton Oilers historically lose almost every Game 1. In their last 15 rounds, including Tuesday night, they’ve won only four series openers. Even in 2006, they only won one Game 1. If you include that Playoff run, just for laughs, the record is 5 Game 1 wins […]
