Three-Goal Second Propels Thunder To Win Over Norfolk Admirals

The Adirondack Thunder snapped their four-game losing streak on Wednesday Night as they defeated the Norfolk Admirals by a score of 4-2. Both teams would play an evenly played opening frame as both goaltenders would make key saves to keep the game scoreless after 20. Norfolk would open up the scoring as Ryan Foss would feed Tanner Schachle on a 2-on-1 to open the scoring for the Admirals. The second period has been the best period for the Thunder so far this season, and that would continue tonight as Nick Rivera would open the scoring for Adirondack right off a faceoff. Then 27 seconds later, Patrick Grasso would give the Thunder the lead.

Special teams played a part in tonight’s game as the Thunder would give up a two-on-one while on the PP, and Todd Burgess would feed Brett Ouderkirk to tie the game up at two. That short-handed goal allowed would be the fifth of the season which ties them with the Witchita Thunder for the most allowed this season. Adirondack would get a power play in the final minute of the third and five seconds into the man advantage. It would be Grant Jozefek who would net his fourth of the season. Despite giving up a short-handed goal, Adirondack, who came into the night third in the league on the PK, killed off all three penalties that they committed tonight.

Xavier Parent added an insurance goal for the Thunder in the third as they took this one by a final of 4-2. Jake Theut would make 33 saves for his fifth win of the season. Adirondack is back in action Saturday Night in Norfolk for the second of three games against the Admirals. Puck drop is at 6 pm EST.
