According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs have placed goaltender Ilya Samsonov on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Toronto Marlies (AHL).

It is believed, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs have called up rookie Goaltender Dennis Hildeby from the Toronto Marlies (AHL). He will likely be going on the trip to California with the Leafs, Friedman added. Ilya Samsonov has a 3.94 GAA, along with an 8.62 Save percentage. The Leafs will likely look to get Samsonov his confidence back with the Toronto Marlies. The Leafs are unlikely to trade for a goaltender, at least right now. However, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Leafs have at least poked around at a possible trade for a goalie. We will wait to see how this progresses over time.
