During the second period of Boston’s gut-wrenching overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, forward Trent Frederic left the game with a lower-body injury.
Frederic went into the corner with Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe, who threw a reverse hit into Frederic, knocking him to the ice. As Frederic fell, he landed awkwardly, looked to his feet, and proceeded to leave the ice. Frederic did not return to the game.
During the post-game media scrum, Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco had no update on Frederic’s condition.
Prior to the injury, Trent Frederic has been one of Boston’s most coveted trade assets. Reports have been surfacing from Elliotte Friedman, Frank Seravalli, and Darren Dreger that Frederic would likely be moved by the Trade Deadline. With a potential injury, could that trade be jeopardized?
