Tulsa Oilers Re-Sign a Forward & Lose a Defenseman Overseas

The Tulsa Oilers have announced that they have re-signed forward Tyler Poulsen for the 2024-25 season. Meanwhile, defenseman Karl Boudrias has signed to play with HC Nove Zamky in Nove Zamky, Slovakia, of Tipos Extraliga.

Tyler Poulsen Junior and Collegiate Career

Tyler Poulsen started his junior career in the 2008-09 season in the NPHL with the Eugene Generals. In his two seasons in the NPHL, Poulsen played in 63 games where he had 20 goals and 46 assists for 66 points with 156 penalty minutes. He played in the postseason both seasons he spent in the NPHL, getting to play in eight games. He had three goals and four assists for seven points with six penalty minutes.

Poulsen then spent five seasons in the NAHL, spending time with the Kenai River Brown Bears, Aberdeen Wings, Odessa Jackalopes, and Topeka Roadrunners. Poulsen played in 219 games in the NAHL where he had 74 goals and 82 assists for 156 points. He had 84 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -4. In his time in the NAHL, Poulsen’s teams only made the postseason in two of his seasons, both with the Topeka Roadrunners. He played in 14 playoff games, where he had seven goals and ten assists for 17 points. He had seven penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +5.

After completing his junior career, Poulsen started his collegiate career in the 2015-16 season at the University of Alabama-Huntsville where he spent three seasons. While at Huntsville, Poulsen played in 88 games where he had 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points. He had 84 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -27.

Tyler Poulsen Professional Career

Poulsen signed his first professional contract with the Allen Americans towards the end of the 2017-18 season after completing his collegiate career. Since then, Poulsen has played in the ECHL for six seasons, spending time with the Allen Americans, Rapid City Rush, Worcester Railers, and Tulsa Oilers. Poulsen did not play in the 2020-21 season, but in his other six seasons, he has played in a total of 274 games, where he has 64 goals and 74 assists for 138 points. He has 199 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -48. Poulsen has played in the ECHL playoffs in two seasons, both with the Tulsa Oilers. He had played in four playoff games but he does not have any points or penalty minutes in the playoffs and has a plus/minus of 0.

In the 2023-24 season with the Oilers, Poulsen played in 58 games where he had 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points. He had 48 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -9. Poulsen only played in one playoff game with the Oilers where he did not have any points or penalty minutes and had a plus/minus of 0.

Karl Boudrias Junior Career

Karl Boudrias started his junior career in the 2016-17 season playing in the QMJHL, where he spent time with Rimouski Oceanic, Val-d’Or Foreurs, and Chicoutimi Sagueneens. In his five junior seasons, Boudrias played in 246 games, where he had 19 goals and 72 assists for 91 points. He had 199 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -52. He played in the QMJHL postseason in four of his five seasons, playing in playoff games with all three of the teams he played for. He played in 21 playoff games, where he had one goal and six assists for seven points. He had 16 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -8.

Karl Boudrias Professional Career

After completing his junior career, Boudrias decided to start his professional career as he signed in the ECHL with the Worcester Railers for the 2021-22 season. Before signing overseas for the 2024-25 season, Boudrias played three seasons in the ECHL, spending time with the Worcester Railers, South Carolina Stingrays, and the Tulsa Oilers. In his three ECHL seasons, Boudrias played in 177 games, where he had 16 goals and 57 assists for 73 points. He had 176 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -33. The 2023-24 season was Boudrias’ only season where he played in the playoffs in the ECHL.

In the 2023-24 season with the Oilers, Boudrias played in 61 games where he had six goals and 21 assists for 27 points. He had 54 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -9. In the playoffs, Boudrias played in four games with the Oilers where he did not register any points. He had two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -3.

The 2024-25 season will be the first season that Boudrias plays outside of North America.
