Two Detroit Red Wings AHL Players Named All-Stars

The Detroit Red Wings AHL affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins are currently in first place in their division holding a six-point lead with a 20-10-3 record and a positive goal differential of +15. Today the AHL announced the rosters for the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic and two players made the roster as forward Austin Watson will represent as well as netminder Sebastian Cossa.

Austin Watson

Watson signed with the Red Wings on October 7, 2024, to a one-year deal which is a two-way contract. Waston’s played in two games with Detroit this season but failed to record a point and was a minus-two in his time there. The 32-year-old Ann Arbor, Michigan native has played in 31 games with the Griffins. He’s recording 25 points on nine goals and 16 assists, he is plus ten and has 56 penalty minutes. Watson’s second on the team in points, tied for fourth in goals and tied for first in assists.

Sebastian Cossa

The Red Wings drafted Cossa with the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut this season in a relief spot and picked up the win stopping 12 of the 14 shots he faced. In Grand Rapids this season he’s appeared in 19 games going 10-6-3 with a 2.30 goals-against and a .918 save percentage, he has one shutout. Last season he made 40 appearances going 22-9-9 with a 2.41 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. In the playoffs he made nine starts going 5-4-0 with a 2.72 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.
