Two Teams Linked to John Gibson

Two Teams Linked to John Gibson

The NHL has reached the Four Nations break and expectations are that trades could happen over the break. The Trade Deadline is March 7th but we’ve seen some deals happen already and there could likely be more. One name to watch is John Gibson who Elliotte Friedman said on 32 Thoughts today wants to be a number one goalie. This season he has lost that job in Anaheim as Lukas Dostal has taken over and looked good doing so.

Two teams that have been linked to Gibson lately are the Edmonton Oilers and the other is the Carolina Hurricanes. The Oilers however may have the issue of Stuart Skinner. Gibson wants to be a number one and Skinner’s play this year may have them being a duo which won’t work for Gibson. Like Friedman said earlier he could go there and prove himself and take the job like Dostal did to him. Carolina would be interesting with Pyotr Kochetkov and Frederik Andersen as their current netminders. Gibson could fit in well there but it’s not the first time he’s been linked there. It could be another situation where they just can’t get something done. Gibson will be a name to watch over the break and even over the next couple of weeks. Gibson is also under contract until the 2026-27 season before he becomes a UFA.
