USPHL: Hampton Roads Whalers Announce 2024-25 Elite, Premier Season Schedules

Hampton Roads Whalers Via WhalerNation.com

The United States Premier Hockey League released today the Elite and Premier level schedules for the 2024-25 regular season. All divisions in the Premier, minus the Pacific Division, will play a 44-game season. The Hampton Roads Whalers Elite and Premier teams will play 12 of their 44 games across three showcases, four non-showcase games against an out-of-division team, and six games against long-time rivals, Charlotte Rush, which is sure to be another spectacular and high intensity season series.

The Whalers Elite and Premier teams will open things up on home ice when they welcome the Columbia Infantry to Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex on Sept. 14th and 15th. Last season, the Elite team went 5-0-1 over the Infantry, while the Premier team swept their season series 6-0. The Elite team won the season series by a 34-4 scoreline, which included shutouts for the Whalers in four of the six games and the Premier with a 30-10 scoreline over those six games.

Elite

The Whalers Elite team will look to change things around completely this season. They finished the 2023-24 season 20-19-1-2 for 43 points in the Southeast standings. That was good enough for fourth in the division and the last spot in the Southeast Division Playoffs, but it is not up to the standards of what it is to be a Whaler. They would be swept in the three-game series in the first round by the eventual USPHL Elite runners-up, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes.

Premier

The Whalers Premier team also had a poor showing last season. The team went 17-20-2-3 and collected 39 points on the season. They too, finished fourth in the USPHL Southeast Division but faced a team that surprised many as they were not one of the usual teams to take first in the division, the Potomac Patriots. The Patriots would put an end to the Whalers miserable season and pull out the sweep in the best-of-three series.
