The Vancouver Canucks will face the Washington Capitals tonight at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. The Canucks are currently on a two-game losing streak and have dropped 11 of their last 16. Despite the recent struggles still hold the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference as they enter play tonight. The Canucks are tied with the Calgary Flames but do have a game in hand. The Canucks may get some blue-line help soon. Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin this morning announced that defenseman Filip Hronek is being assigned to the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL for a conditioning stint.

Filip Hronek
The Red Wings drafted Hronek with the 53rd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He spent his first five seasons in Detroit appearing in 305 games recording 156 points on 30 goals and 126 assists. He was a -87; he also had 49 points on the power play and had 287 blocked shots as well as 405 hits.

Hronek was traded to the Canucks on March 1, 2023, along with a 2023 fourth-round pick in exchange for two draft picks. Since joining the Canucks he’s recorded 58 points on six goals and 52 assists, he is a +46. He had 13 power-play points and had 112 blocked shots and 145 hits. This season in 21 games he had nine points on a goal and eight assists. Before the injury he was a +14; he had two power-play points and had 21 blocked shots with 36 hits.
