Vegas Golden Knights Acquire Reilly Smith

The Vegas Golden Knights are always active come trade deadline time and this season it has begun as they’ve acquired forward Reilly Smith from the New York Rangers. The Golden Knights are sending the San Jose Sharks third-round pick and forward Brendan Brisson to the Rangers. Smith returns to Vegas where he played from 2017 until 2023.

Reilly Smith

Smith is in his 14th season having played in Dallas, Boston, Florida, Vegas, Pittsburgh, and with the Rangers. Dallas drafted Smith 69th overall in the 2009 NHL Draft. He spent two seasons in Dallas playing in 40 games recording nine points on three goals and six assists. The Bruins then traded for Smith where he spent two seasons playing in 163 games recording 91 points on 33 goals and 58 assists. The Bruins traded him to Florida. He spent two seasons with the Panthers playing in 162 games recording 87 points on 40 goals and 47 assists.

Then he would go to Vegas where in six seasons he played in 399 games. He recorded 286 points on 124 goals and 162 assists. Vegas traded Smith to the Penguins. He spent one season in Pittsburgh playing in 76 games recording 40 points on 13 goals and 27 assists. This season in 58 games with the Rangers he has 29 points on ten goals and 19 assists. In 898 career games, he has 542 points on 223 goals and 319 assists.

Brendan Brisson

Vegas drafted Brissom 29th overall in the 2020 draft. In three seasons with the Golden Knights’s AHL affiliate the Henderson Silver Knights, he’s played in 155 games recording 94 points on 42 goals and 52 assists. He’s played in 24 games with Vegas in his career recording eight points on two goals and six assists. This season in nine games with Vegas he is pointless. In Henderson this season he has 19 points in 45 games on five goals and 14 assists.
