Vegas Golden Knights in the Four Nations Faceoff: Preview

The Vegas Golden Knights entered the Four Nations Face-Off tied for first place with the Edmonton Oilers in the Pacific Division. They currently are in second place due to playing one more game than the Oilers.  The Four Nations Face-Off starts tomorrow and Vegas will be represented by five players in the tournament. Forward Mark Stone, defenseman Shea Theodore, and goalie Adin Hill will play for Team Canada. Defenseman Noah Hanifin and forward Jack Eichel will play for Team USA. Two Golden Knights were expected to play but are now out of the tournament. Forward William Karlsson is out due to injury and he was named to Team Sweden. Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo was named to Team Canada as well but he opted to not partake in the tournament. Vegas Head Coach Bruce Cassidy will also be an assistant coach for Team Canada.

Mark Stone:

Stone this season in 42 games has recorded 49 points on 14 goals and 35 assists while averaging 19:48 TOI. He has 21 points on the power-play with four of those coming as goals. Stone has recorded a shorthanded assist. He has two game-winning goals this season as well. As of late, he’s been on the second line with Brandon Saad and Brett Howden. As of yesterday’s practice, he was seen skating with Sidney Crosby, and Nathan MacKinnon on the second line for Team Canada. He was also on the second power-play unit with Brayden Point, Mitch Marner, Josh Morrissey, and Shea Theodore.

Shea Theodore:

Theodore this season has 48 points on seven goals and 41 assists in 55 games in 22:03 TOI. He has 19 power-play points with two of those coming via goal. Theodore has recorded 69 blocked shots and has recorded 111 shots on goal. He also has two game-winning goals this season. At Team Canada practice, Theodore was paired with Drew Doughty and was on the second power-play unit with Stone, Point, Marner, and Morrissey.

Adin Hill:

Hill this season in 34 games is 20-10-4 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage; he has recorded two shutouts. Out of his 34 starts, 15 of them have been quality starts. Hill could get the start tomorrow night for Team Canada. Hill, Theodore, and Stone as well as the rest of Team Canada will face Team Sweden tomorrow at 8:00 PM EST on TNT.

Noah Hanifin:

Hanifin this season in 56 games has 23 points on six goals and 17 assists in 21:14 TOI. He has just two power-play points this season on a goal and an assist. Hanifin has recorded 81 blocked shots and 33 hits. He has 102 shots on goals this season. Of his six goals, one of them was a game-winning goal. Hanifin as of late been paired up with Zach Whitecloud. At Team USA practice Theodore was paired up with Brock Faber.

Jack Eichel:

Eichel this season in 55 games has 69 points on 19 goals and 50 assists in 21:06 TOI. He is seventh in the league in points and fourth in assists. Eichel has 23 power-play points with three of those coming on goals. He has two shootout goals and one game-winning goal this season. Eichel also posts a 46.1 faceoff percentage. He also has two shorthanded points one on a goal and the other on an assist. Eichel has been centering the top line playing with Ivan Barbashev and Victor Olofsson. He’s on the top line for Team USA playing with Kyle Connor and Matthew Tkachuk. He’s also on the top power-play unit with Tkachuk, Jack Hughes, Auston Matthews, and Adam Fox. Eichel and Hanifin as well as the rest of Team USA will face Team Finland on Thursday at 8:00 PM EST on ESPN.
