Free agent center Vincent Trocheck has signed a seven-year deal with the New York Rangers, Inside The Rink has learned.
The contract carries an average annual value of $5.625 million for a total of $39.375 million
Juicing up the middle was a priority for the Rangers, and president/general manager Chris Drury got the job done.
Trocheck, who tuned 29 earlier this week, will presumably replace Ryan Strome in the second line, joining Artemi Panarin.
Having spent the last three seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes, Trocheck has provided solid depth. He scored 21 goals along with 30 assists in 81 regular season games before contributing with 10 points (six goals, four assists) in 14 playoff games.
Trocheck will be reunited with Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant, whom he played under during their three seasons together with the Florida Panthers from 2014-17. Under his tutelage, Trocheck scored 111 goals and dished 171 assists in 420 games. His best performance came in 2017-18, when he posted 31 goals and 44 assists for 75 points.
