In a game seven that will go down as an all-time great in Whiteout Way, the Winnipeg Jets overcame adversity and a two-goal deficit to defeat the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in double overtime, advancing to the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The victory captures a dramatic comeback in front of an emotional capacity crowd at Canada Life Centre on Sunday night.
Trailing 3–1 with under two minutes remaining in regulation, the Jets pulled goaltender Connor Hellebuyck for an extra attacker. The move paid off as Vladislav Namestnikov scored at 18:12, followed by Cole Perfetti’s game-tying goal with just 1.6 seconds left, the latest tying goal in a Game 7 in NHL history.
In the second overtime, Adam Lowry deflected a shot from Neal Pionk past Blues goalie Jordan Binnington at 16:10, sealing the win. Pionk had a standout performance with three assists, while Perfetti led the offence with two goals.
This game marks the third-longest game seven in NHL history, marking a historic feat for both teams as the series was brutal on both sides.
The Jets’ resilience was especially notable given injuries to key players Josh Morrissey and Mark Scheifele. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, despite earlier struggles in the series, made 26 saves in Game 7 to help secure the victory.
With this win, the Jets advance to face the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Second Round. Dallas also emerged from a seven-game series, defeating the Colorado Avalanche.
The Jets’ dramatic Game 7 victory not only keeps their championship hopes alive but also showcases their tenacity and depth as they continue their pursuit of the Stanley Cup.
