Winnipeg Jets Announce Preseason Schedule

Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets announced today their six-game 2024 NHL preseason schedule. The schedule includes three away games and three home games against three opponents.

They begin in Winnipeg where they are set to face the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, September 21st at the Canada Life Centre.

The Jets hit the road to face the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Sunday, September 22nd. The Jets and Oilers will renew rivalries on Wednesday, September 25th back at the Canada Life Centre to finish off their two-game preseason series.

Winnipeg will then travel to Minnesota and face the Wild to end their two-game series at the Xcel Center on Friday, September 27th.

Finally, the end of their preseason series will see the Jets face the Calgary Flames in Winnipeg on Wednesday, October 2nd. The Jets will then travel to the Scotiabank Saddledome to face the Flames on Friday, October 4th for their preseason closer.

The Jets still have a long way to go this off-season with the 2024 NHL Entry Draft less than 10 days away and free agency waiting soon after.

It will be interesting to see what the Jets’ opening night roster will look like. The Jets need to fill out a number of roles this upcoming season, including the backup goaltender and second line centre role.

With the Jets having a logjam at the defensive position currently, it will interesting to see who is promoted from the Moose and who receives a larger role in 2024-25.

That’s what the preseason is all about in the modern NHL. It supplements training camp with actual games and helps the coaching staff narrow down their 23-man opening night roster.

Opinion: Stars’ Mikko Rantanen Returns to Form At the Right Time

It was clear that Mikko Rantanen was not exactly about being traded by the Colorado Avalanche, the only NHL club he had ever known. It was in Colorado where he spent close to 11 seasons, won a Stanley Cup in 2022, had 681 points (287 goals and 394 assists), and made lifelong friends. That is […]

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2

It takes four wins to advance, but the Edmonton Oilers historically lose almost every Game 1. In their last 15 rounds, including Tuesday night, they’ve won only four series openers. Even in 2006, they only won one Game 1. If you include that Playoff run, just for laughs, the record is 5 Game 1 wins […]
