Winnipeg Jets Extend Haydn Fleury for Two Years

The Winnipeg Jets announced earlier Saturday morning that they’ve extended defenseman Haydn Fleury on a two-year contract worth $950,000 annually.

Fleury, 28, signed a one-year deal worth $775,000 with the Winnipeg Jets in the 2024 NHL offseason and proved to be incredibly valuable to the Jets blueline. The 6-foot-4 defenseman posteed seven assists/points in 39 games played for Winnipeg last season. He added two assists/points in eight playoff games for the Jets in their 2025 Stanley Cup Playoff run.

The Carlyle, Saskachewan-born defender stepped up in a big way in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, munching minutes and injecting himself into the top-four for the game seven double overtime thriller against the St. Louis Blues. Josh Morrissey was hurt in the game, needing the remaining five defenseman for Winnipeg to step up, and Haydn Fleury did that in a big way.

The former seventh overall draft selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft has found himself playing for a handful of teams. Fleury has played for the Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken, Tampa Bay Lightning, and now the Winnipeg Jets. Fleury was also claimed by the Seattle Kraken from Anaheim in the expansion draft.

Fleury’s posted 44 points (10G, 34A) in 307 career NHL games while adding four points (2G, 2A) in 26 career NHL playoff games.

Internationally, Fleury has won a gold medal at the 2013 Hlinka Gretzky Memorial tournament and a bronze medal at the 2014 U18 World Junior Championship. Professionally, Fleury was apart of the 2019 Charlotte Checkers team that won the Calder Cup that season.
