The Winnipeg Jets announced today that they’ve signed forward Cole Perfetti to a two-year contract extension worth an average annual value (AAV) worth $3.25 million annually.
The Whitby, Ontario native was named to the Jets’ 2024 training camp roster before he had a contract in place. He’s coming off a 38-point season (19G, 19A) in 71 NHL games and just one 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Playoff game under his belt during his 2023-24 campaign.
Perfetti is hopeful that he can build upon his strong campaign and solidify his role with the Winnipeg Jets. He suited up in just one of the five playoff games the Jets played against the Colorado Avalanche. He suffered injuries in his first couple of seasons which limited his playing time, but the young forward continues to show flashes of greatness.
Drafted 10th overall by the Jets in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Perfetti has a lot to build upon as a 22-year-old forward in the NHL. He’s represented himself nicely, even going as far as representing the Winnipeg Jets at the NHL Players Media Tour in Las Vegas a week ago. At the time, he was unsigned and it gave Jets fans a hopeful sigh of relief with the forward.
Perfetti has played parts of three seasons for the Winnipeg Jets amassing 75 points (29G, 46A) in 140 career NHL games. He’s posted career highs in goals (19), points (38), and plus-minus (plus-13) in the 2023-24 season. In his 2022-23 campaign, he posted career highs in assists (22) and PIMs (16). Before joining the Jets, Perfetti spent time with the team’s AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, posting 41 points (15G, 26A) in 49 games across two seasons.
His junior career was spent with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League where he spent two seasons. Perfetti, 22, will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights when his contract expires at the end of the 2025-26 season.
