Adam Lowry Injury Update

Despite a 5-4 overtime win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday night, the Winnipeg Jets didn’t come out of the game without some injury news. Not only did they lose their top defenceman Josh Morrissey, but they also lost third-line center Adam Lowry, who sustained a lower-body injury.

After the game, Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness told reporters that both Josh Morrissey and Adam Lowry are “highly doubtful” to play Sunday night in Tampa Bay. Both need further evaluation.

Lowry joins Jets forwards Cole Perfetti and Pierre-Luc Dubois as the team battles through injuries of late. Making matters worse, the Jet’s 3-5-2 record in their last ten games, Winnipeg, is starting to create severe doubt in Jets fans’ minds about whether or not they can hold onto a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

While Lowry’s status is up in the air, Winnipeg will look to Kevin Stenlund and David Gustafsson to step up in their bottom-6 center position, with Stenlund likely moving into Lowry’s spot on the Jet’s top penalty-kill unit.

Lowry is in his ninth season with the Winnipeg Jets, and before his injury, he had 27 points (8G, 19A) in 66 games in 2022-23, two points shy of his career-high 29 points he produced in 2016-17.

After playing Tampa Bay on Sunday night, Winnipeg will head to Raleigh to play the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday to finish a three-game road trip. Hopefully, by then, the Jets will know more about Lowry’s injury and whether or not he plays before heading back to Winnipeg for a home game on Thursday, March 16, 2023, against the league-leading Boston Bruins.

Sunday, March 12, 2023 (4 pm CST): Lowry will take pre-game warmups versus Tampa Bay on Sunday night and is considered a game-time decision.
