Forward Jackson Pierson and defenseman Anthony Firriolo signed with the Atlanta Gladiators earlier today for the 2023-24 season. They join the recent additions of Dylan Carabia, Brayden Crowder, Ryan Crawford, Evan Dougherty, Tyler Harmon, Mitch Fossier, Cody Sylvester, and Mitch Walinski, who also have signed on with the Gladiators for the upcoming season.
Pierson attended the University of New Hampshire and recorded 31 goals and 57 assists (88 points) in his 115 games with the Wildcats. He led his team in scoring in his 2020-21 season and was named Second Team Hockey All-Star. Named alternate captain for his final season in New Hampshire, he went on to earn a career-high in goals that season (12).
Pierson would later attend the University of Notre Dame as a Graduate Transfer student, playing in 31 games with the Irish Pierson would open his season with an assist for the Irish in both road games against Colorado. With the Fighting Irish, he tallied a total of nine points in 31 games (1g-8a) and won 229 faceoffs for the Irish for a .520 percentage. After his time at the University of Notre Dame, Pierson went on to play professionally in six games with the Fort Wayne Komets for the 2022-23 season.
Anthony Firriolo played professionally during the 2022-23 season with the Jacksonville Iceman He added one assist after playing six games with the Iceman. Like Pierson, Firriolo also demonstrated talent on the ice during his collegiate career Playing for Army West Point; Firriolo played in 123 games and racked up 75 points (22g-53a) for the Defenders During both his junior and senior years with West Point, Firriolo would lead his team in scoring.
The Atlanta Gladiators host the Savannah Ghost Pirates when they kick off their 2023-24 season at on October 21, 2023.
